Christi Taylor: Funktional Fitness |
Christi Taylor: Funktional Fitness(Taylord Fitness) 2004 What is it? Forty minutes' worth of cardio dance and 20 minutes of strength training from instructor Christi Taylor. Who is it for? Intermediate exercisers. There's a lot of choreography, but it's not too difficult. The only equipment you'll need is a good pair of aerobic shoes.
What to expect: How you feel about this workout depends on how familiar you are with Christi Taylor. If you've done lots of her DVDs and love her complex choreography, this one might be a little too easy for you. If you are new to Taylor's workouts and are looking for choreography that's a little more complex than your typical mainstream cardio workout, then this is probably the DVD you've been searching for. Taylor has put together 40 minutes of short, fast-paced cardio sequences that are really more focused on the "functional" than on the "funk." You do each set of steps long enough to learn 'em, then you throw 'em away and learn another set. It certainly keeps things interesting, and if you're having a problem getting one move down, it won't ruin the rest of the workout because you'll be done with it in a few minutes' time. Even though there is a lot of choreography here, Taylor's great cueing and ability to build up from very basic steps will get you through most of this in a very enjoyable manner. There are a lot of strength building lower body moves during the cardio part of this workout, and that theme continues into the 20-minute strength training segment. Although you're just using your own bodyweight, you'll feel the burn. Taylor also gives you some upper body and ab work, but the legs and glutes are definitely the main focus. Old time Christi Taylor fans will probably prefer her more intense, more complex DVDs, but most others will find this a wonderful introduction to the world of Christi.
