What to expect:
Kari Anderson and Jay Blahnik — two winners of the IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year award — have made quite a few videos on their own. They pooled their forces to make this video and Classic Step. The focus is on taking classic aerobic moves and putting them together into a fresh, new routine. The foundation of the workout is straightforward — no kick boxing, hip-hop, Latin or other trendy moves. But that doesn't mean the choreography is simple — Anderson and Blahnik layer on a lot of complexity. A quick warm-up leads right into the first routine. There are four different sets, and Anderson and Blahnik alternate instruction. Anderson's dancey style is powerful enough to compliment Blahnik's more athletic approach and both of them get the heart rate fired up. Their camaraderie is also enjoyable — they make the session so much fun that it practically takes the "work" out of workout. The warm-up, aerobics and cool-down fly by in 44 minutes, and Anderson finishes up with an especially graceful four-minute stretch. Those who have a lot of experience with aerobic videos and/or classes will love this tape, especially if they enjoy a lot of choreography.
