Crunch Fat Blaster: The Next Step(Anchor Bay Ent.) 2000 What is it? A lively half-hour step aerobic routine from Crunch. Kendell Hogan instructs. Who is it for? Advanced beginning through intermediate exercisers. The steps aren't too complicated. You will, of course, need a step.
What to expect: The problem with a lot of step aerobic workouts is that 1) they're generally 45 minutes to an hour long and 2) the choreography is often directed towards intermediate to advanced exercisers who are a bit jaded, resulting in a lot of complicated steps. So what's an advanced beginning exerciser to do, especially one who is short on time? The answer is in this spirited half-hour workout from Crunch. It's long enough so that you work up a sweat and easy enough so that you can keep moving, even if you don't get all the steps down right away (too many step workouts have you constantly rewinding the first few times). Instructor Kendell Hogan's enthusiasm is infectious. He's immediately likeable and, unfortunately, isn't seen enough in workout DVDs (you can catch him again on the Crunch Total Resculpt workout). Hogan makes the workout fun, builds the steps at just the right pace and adds just enough style without overwhelming the routines. He also adds a few quick cardio blasts to rev up the workout even more. Adding to the ambiance is a live percussionist, who seems to be getting a pretty good workout himself. This is one of the more enjoyable step DVDs out there. If you haven't done much step and found the DVDs out there unsatisfying, give this one a try. We like it, and think you will too!
