What is it?
A 43-minute cardio workout that combines cardio dance and kickboxing moves. Jeanette Jenkins instructs.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning through intermediate exercisers  — these levels will work up a sweat. It's probably a little too much choreography for beginners, and you hardcore advanced exercisers would probably consider this a "light day" workout.
What to expect:
Sometimes it gets lonely here in exercise DVD land. It's not that I can't invite someone over to work out with me - my living room is big enough  — but I just don't know anyone who wants to! My friends are all slugs, or they're too busy, or they live too far away... you know all the excuses. So a lot of times I'll be leaping around in front of the TV and wishing I had a workout buddy. Well, with this DVD, I feel like I have one. Jeanette Jenkins is that kind of friendly. She's fun and funny and playful — oh yeah, and she makes you work hard too. If I could build my ideal workout partner, the same way I would if I were writing a character for a novel or a screenplay, I think she would be it. To be honest, this combination of kickboxing and dance moves didn't come completely naturally to me, in part because I'm really a bit of a kickboxing klutz to begin with. But I didn't care if I screwed up the moves because I was enjoying myself too much. I know I'll get the steps down eventually, since they're really not all that difficult. And I'll kickbox all day long if Jenkins is instructing me, just because she's got such great energy. But of course you aren't kickboxing all the way through this workout; she alternates the kickboxing with dance grooves, and the last two segments are Caribbean based (she takes you down to the Island, mon!), so there is definitely an interval type of workout going on here. One of these days I'll get to share my passion for working out with somebody, but until then, I'll keep an eye out for more exercise DVDs featuring Jenkins.
