(Anchor Bay Ent.)
2005
What is it?
Over 40 minutes of cardio dance routines led by Juliane Arney.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning to intermediate exercisers. While the intensity is moderate, there is a lot of choreography. Those with two left feet would be better off with a more athletic, less dancey cardio workout.
What to expect:
If you love to dance and enjoy fast-paced choreography, here's a DVD for you that'll work up a light sweat while teaching you a wide variety of steps. Arney (who is a lot prettier than she appears on the DVD cover art) puts you through the paces in three different tempos, introducing the steps at a slower pace and speeding them up to burn calories. There are four segments, not counting the warm up and cool down, and each segment consists of four different sets of steps. If this sounds like a lot of choreography, it is, and you aren't given more than a few bars per tempo to learn each segment. That's part of the challenge and part of the fun, if you enjoy dancing and learning new steps. If you aren't the dancey sort, this isn't the workout out for you. Because of the quick pace, even those experienced at cardio dance may have to back up a few times to get some of the moves down, but once you do, you'll be able to add a bit of your own style and groove. The workout is a little silly, a lot of fun, and will leave you energized without making you totally breathless.
