(Anchor Bay)
2007
What is it?
A 35-minute salsa dance workout, using the simple "Dance Off the Inches" formula. Stella Sandoval is the instructor.
Who is it for?
Beginning and advanced beginning exercisers. The steps are pretty easy, but if you are having trouble, there is a separate, 17-minute step guide that shows you the 10 moves, one by one.
What to expect:
If you're looking for something a little more interesting than the hamstring curls and grapevines of traditional cardio workouts, then you may want to give this salsa routine a try. It's simpler than authentic salsa - the steps and counts are modified here - and the intensity level is accessible for beginning exercisers on up. That said, those who don't have a lot of dance experience, cardio or otherwise, will be happy to have the 17-minute "Step Guide," in which Stella Sandoval breaks down the moves. Keep in mind, however, that she will spice them up for the actual routine. As a result, even with the Step Guide, you may not get all the moves right the first few times around, but this workout is so much fun that it shouldn't matter. You will get your heart rate up moderately, making this a good DVD for lighter days. At 35 minutes, this is a fairly quick routine, and it's so enjoyable that even that half-hour-plus will fly by.
