(Anchor Bay)
2007
What is it?
A 42-minute cardio dance routine, hip hop style, with Jennifer Galardi instructing.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning exercisers who enjoy dancing. There is a 20-minute instructional section that breaks down the moves but trust me, if you don't like to dance you just won't be into this workout.
What to expect:
When I opened up the press kit and saw Jennifer Galardi's smiling face gracing the cover of this DVD, I did a double take. Doesn't the "Dance Off the Inches" series consist of easy-to-learn, beginner's cardio dance routines? And doesn't Galardi usually design choreography that's complicated and hard to dissect? I usually skip the Step Guide on these DVDs, but this time around, I figured I had better check it out first — and it made all the difference. I was pleasantly surprised at how well, and how quickly, Galardi broke down the moves. I was able to master each one, even though the moves from this instructor have never come intuitively for me. Once I did the actual workout, I was able to complete all 42 minutes without stopping the DVD and backing up even once. This is a first for me, when it comes to Jennifer Galardi routines. I had fun with these hip, stylish moves right from the start. Okay, I didn't do them all perfectly, but my mind wasn't getting in the way of my feet, either. My only complaint is that these funky moves involve a lot of sliding feet and heel digging, so this workout is best done on a wood floor. Many steps were a little difficult to do on my rug (it would have been easy to wrench my knee or hip if I wasn't careful), so I may roll it up the next time I pull out this DVD. And there will a next time because I really enjoyed it. Incidentally, I'm not a huge fan of khaki, but I loved Galardi's outfit here.
