Fat-Burning Kickboxing Workout for Dummies(Anchor Bay) 2006 What is it? A 35-minute beginner's kickboxing workout from the "Dummies" crew. There's also a 15-minute segment that breaks down the 10 moves that make up the routines. Fitness pro Keli Roberts is your instructor. Who is it for? Beginning and advanced beginning exercisers. You learn the basic kickboxing moves here. That said, expect to work during the workout! And don't necessarily expect to pick up all the moves the first time you try out this DVD. The fast-paced assortment of jabs and kicks may trip you up for a few passes (but the learning process is worth it).
What to expect: You want to try kickboxing, but some of those workouts seem awfully advanced. On the other hand, you don't want to be stuck with a DVD that doesn't challenge you, either. Keli Roberts and the "Dummies" people have taken the fear out of kickboxing for you kickboxing beginners with this workout. If the moves are completely new to you, there's a 15-minute learning segment in which Keli breaks down each punch and kick, one by one. She goes over each move slowly, emphasizing proper form. The 35-minute workout is made up of these moves, but at a much quicker pace. Roberts starts you off with a 6-minute warm-up, and then gives you 3 progressively more difficult "fat-burning" routines. It ends with a 5-minute cool down. Keep in mind that the punches, kicks and jabs in this workout are tightly choreographed, so it may take a little practice to get them right — but you will burn calories while you're learning!
