(Natural Journeys)
2004
What is it?
A very fun, 28-minute cardio dance blend of Latin and African steps, plus a bonus 10-minute abs and lower body blast. Award-winning choreographer Madonna Grimes instructs.
Who is it for?
Beginning to advanced-beginning exercisers who love to dance. The steps are actually easier to learn than they appear, although you probably won't get absolutely everything down the first couple of times you try this workout. It's enjoyable enough for intermediate exercisers to use as light cardio before or after a weight training session. If you do the bonus routine, you'll need a mat if you're exercising on a hard surface.
What to expect:
If you love to dance, but you're a little bored by the same old traditional cardio dance moves, then Madonna Grimes has a short workout that's just what you need. She's put together a selection of Latin steps and African dance moves to create a stylish, sexy and sweat-inducing routine. She starts you off with a 10-minute warm up that will prepare you body for 15 minutes of layered cardio combos. Because she doesn't slow them down as she's teaching you, the steps may be a little difficult to pick up at first, but they're really not all that hard. Plus, Grimes has a fun approach and great camaraderie with her fellow dancers. She wraps things up with a few minutes of cooling down and stretching and in just a little over 28 minutes you're done. This workout leaves you wanting more, so if you're up for it, there's also a 10-minute bonus toning segment in which Grimes works your lower body with a variety of squats and crunches. It's quick, but effective.
