Karen Voight: Calorie Burn |
Karen Voight: Calorie Burn(Entertaining Fitness) 2006 What is it? A half-hour, low-impact cardio workout from Karen Voight. Who is it for? Beginning through intermediate exercisers, although beginners may find the choreography a little complicated. Just know that while the moves are more athletic than dancey, and there are arm and leg combos that may take a few tries to get down. Intermediates will have an easier time with the moves, but may want to save this workout for "light," less intense days.
What to expect: This cardio workout flies by so quickly that you may not even realize that a half hour has passed. That's because Karen Voight keeps the choreography coming — once you learn a step combo, it's gone and you're off learning the next move. This is a great approach for a low-impact routine, since it keeps things challenging over a period of weeks and you won't get bored (both are potential problems when it comes to low-impact routines). The basic moves are actually pretty simple to start off, but Voight adds arm moves, kicks and more to make the steps more complex. Then, as soon as you have a handle on one series of moves, it's onto the next group. Because the steps are more athletic and less dancey, they're never so complicated that they become frustrating for non-dancers (but there's enough variety to keep dancers interested). And Voight keeps you going, so your heart rate's always up. This is a nice routine for beginners on up. Advanced beginners (those with some experience with cardio DVD workouts) will probably enjoy this the most; intermediate exercisers may find this workout too easy except for lighter, "recovery" days.
