What is it?
Two 20-minute Latin dance workouts — or one 40-minute workout — featuring fitness expert Kathy Smith.
Who is it for?
Beginning to advanced beginning exercisers who enjoy dancing and want a light workout. Great for days in between heavier workouts. Works especially well if you already have a bit of familiarity with Latin dance moves. Definitely not for the dance challenged. This workout is meant to be done on a wood floor, preferably wearing shoes without treads. Don't even think of doing it on a thick carpet with sneakers!
What to expect:
Tired of the same old hamstring curls and knee-ups? Love to dance? Then this workout is a must for your library. With the help of a couple of Latin dance experts, a full band and a floor filled with dancers, Kathy Smith leads you through simple salsa, samba and merengue moves while urging you to break a sweat. Those already familiar with Latin dance will probably enjoy this tape the most — the shorter the learning curve, the easier it is to get a workout. If you're new to these moves, it may take a couple of passes to get them down, but they're simple and it's easy to throw yourself into these routines pretty quickly. Keep in mind that you won't get as powerful a workout as you would with most aerobic videos — this one's for lighter days when you need to get moving but you don't want to push yourself too hard. But you will get in an exercise session and enjoy yourself while doing it. Although this program is divided into two 20-minute sections, it's more fun to string the whole thing together for one 40-minute workout. Want to grab a partner and take these moves to the dance floor for real? The two professional Latin dance instructors are featured in a segment that shows you how.
