2006
What is it?
A 50-minute cardio workout that can also be divided up into 2 half-hour exercise sessions (you use the same warm-up and cool down). Chris Freytag instructs.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning through intermediate exercisers. The routines may be a little intense for those who are completely new to exercise, or who haven't worked out in a long time. The moves are either very basic or athletic, so this is good for those who don't want a lot of choreography or dance moves.
What to expect:
If you're not interested in learning fancy dance steps, and just moving around to canned music isn't a good enough cardio workout for you, then you'll really appreciate the two routines on this DVD. Chris Freytag understands the difference between just burning calories and really revving things up, so she has you using all your major muscle groups to really raise both your heart rate and your metabolism. The first routine consists of basic moves like step touches, grapevines and lunges. They're occasionally done with a little flair, but the primary purpose here is to have you gasping for breath by the time the workout is done. The second 20-minute segment alternates athletic moves like soccer kicks and basketball jumps with very fast-paced intervals, all the better to boost your metabolism. You can do the whole DVD for a 50-minute workout, or you can do a 30-minute workout by skipping over one of the cardio routines. For some reason, the DVD isn't set up so that you can easily program it for just one workout, but that's a small complaint when you burn so many calories.
