What is it?
A challenging, 53-minute salsa dance workout from world dance champion Lisa Nunziella.
Who is it for?
Intermediate through advanced exercisers. You'd better be familiar with salsa to get through this one. Even better, you should be familiar with Nunziella's beginner's DVD, Red Hot Salsa Made Simple.
What to expect:
Most salsa exercise DVDs are cute, fun... and not all that sweat-inducing. You wind up the half-hour or 45 minutes having had a great time, but not so sure you had a great workout. So if you've done a few salsa exercise DVDs and found them unsatisfying, you've met your match with Red Hot Salsa Made Simple II. Lisa Nunziella keeps you moving for nearly an hour with fast-paced steps that will take some effort to get right. Luckily, she breaks down each step in a separate instructional segment, so you can practice them a few times before attempting the actual routine. The warm-up consists of moves you'll recall from her Red Hot Salsa Made Simple DVD, and the actual workout consists of steps that are, for the most part, more challenging than anything on the first DVD. What makes it even more of a challenge is that most of the steps are begun in classic Salsa fashion, on the 2-beat, but a few times, Nunziella throws in a move with the more familiar 1-2-3-4 count. As a result, this workout requires you to focus both your attention and your body. And because she has the separate instructional segment, she never slows down — you'd just better be ready to do the move. This means your heart rate stays up and you legs (and core) never get a rest. By the end of this routine, you'll know you've had a great workout — and had a great time too.
