(PolyGram Video)
1996
What is it?
A half-hour aerobic workout that uses Latin-flavored moves.
Who is it for?
Love to dance? Enjoy moving your body to sexy Latin rhythms? Then this video is for you. In fact, this video works best for those who have more experience on the dance floor than in the gym. If you can barely do a grapevine without tripping over your feet, this video will probably frustrate you.
What to expect:
While the moves in this aerobic workout are more Latin-based than authentic Latin steps, it really helps to have some experience with salsa and similar dance styles before diving in. Instructor Mauro Maschkvich and his helper, Diana Maria Lara, only spend four minutes warming you up and introducing the steps they’ll be using for the workout — and then you’re off. The 23-minute workout is highly choreographed, and only a real dance expert will get it all on the first try. Those who love dancing, however, will enjoy the challenge of getting the moves down. Most of the steps aren’t too difficult — they’re just handed out at a very fast pace. Although Aerobicaliente will make you sweat, it’s not the most intense workout around — there are videos out there that will get your heart rate up a lot higher than this one. But it’s a genuinely fun little workout, especially for those who hate exercise and love to dance.
