What is it?
A 50-minute cardio dance workout from Self magazine. Kimberly Spreen instructs.
Who is it for?
Beginning and advanced beginning exercisers. A flair for dance is helpful, as there is a lot of choreography. Except for a couple of places, however, the steps are pretty easy to learn. The workout itself isn't too intense, so beginning exercisers should be able to make it all the way through with a light sweat.
What to expect:
If you're starting an exercise program and want to try something a little more interesting than walking, here's a cardio workout with a constantly changing variety of step combinations. Kimberly Spreen keeps the routine flowing along, never repeating the same series of moves once you've done them for a couple of minutes. This may sound intimidating, but it isn't — the steps are all variations on classics such as step-touches, some jogs, easy kicks and mambos. Even beginners will learn these moves without too much trouble. Towards the end, there are a couple of challenging combos, but if they are too frustrating, don't worry — you'll be done with them soon enough. The intensity level is equally easy-going, perfect for those who are new to exercise. Of course, once your cardiovascular endurance increases, this 50-minute routine will no doubt be a little too easy for you, but then you can save it for days when you don't want to work so hard.
