Tamilee Webb's Tighter Assets — Cardio Blast(Natural Journeys/Goldhil) 2002 What is it? A 34-minute, medium-impact cardio workout from fitness expert Tamilee Webb. Who is it for? Advanced beginners and intermediates who only have a half-hour to work up a sweat. The DVD includes a bonus 10-minute buns segment.
What to expect: Cardio Blast is a little different from most aerobic workouts in that it concentrates more on controlled movements and less on just flinging yourself around. Instructor Tamilee Webb also focuses on some light plyometric (jumping or leaping) moves and core-building balance moves. Because of this, you are actually able to get a harder workout the more fit you become (with stronger legs, for example, you can put more power behind the plyometric moves and still keep control). The actual, 27-minute cardio session is divided into several segments that increase in intensity. Webb claims that you don't work as hard in the final cardio segment — perhaps you don't sweat as much, but she offers up a series of leg-toning plies and squats that are still effective, especially if you really put some muscle behind them. As always, Webb's cues are excellent, and she frequently reminds you to keep your abs tight, which is one of the keys to getting the most out of this particular workout. The moves are straightforward and not too dancey, so most exercisers will find them easy to do.
