The Firm: Cardio Overdrive(GT Media) 2008 What is it? A 45-minute cardio and light toning workout from The Firm. Alison Davis instructs. Who is it for? This is pretty much a straight-up intermediate workout. Advanced beginners will have an intensity curve to master and advanced exercisers may find it a bit too easy for their taste. You will need a pair of light weights (I actually used two pairs — a slightly heavier pair for the first of the two sculpting segements).
What to expect: If you've done other Firm workouts (at least those released in the past couple of years), you know what to expect. If you are new to the Firm, keep in mind that their other workouts are pretty similar to this one. The 45-minute workout is divided into alternating segments — basic cardio, cardio "overdrive" (a more intense, high-impact series of moves) and light sculpting, in which you use the weights. Since cardio is the focus, you'll be keeping your heart rate up throughout most of the workout, including the sculpting. The steps are basic-but-not-boring, a little on the repetitive side, but they do the trick, since they use all your limbs and the moves are large. Once you have the routines down (and that should only take you a couple of passes at the most), this will be a good one to have for days where you're a little fuzzy-headed and don't want something too complicated. This DVD will definitely knock some life into you. On days when you're short on time, there is also a 25-minute "express" routine, which has the warm-up, cool down, and one each of the basic, overdrive and sculpting segments.
