Leslie Sansone: Walk Slim — 4 Fast Miles(Anchor Bay) 2007 What is it? A 50-minute, amped-up walking workout from Leslie Sansone. This is a 2-disc set, which includes a 15-minute "bonus" 1-mile jog and 10-minute leg-toning workout. Who is it for? Advanced beginning exercisers — Sansone pumps up the intensity and impact here. You don't need any special equipment except for the 10-minute toning segement, which uses an exercise tube with cuffs (sometimes known as a "Lex loop").
What to expect: Unless you are a senior citizen or have physical challenges, walking alone will only go so far for an exercise program. Most people who start off doing Leslie Sansone's walking workouts eventually progress to a fitness level that requires a little more intensity on occasion. So it's no surprise that over the past few years, Sansone has been offering some more challenging routines — many of her longtime followers want it. This workout includes intervals, which is a great way to burn more calories, and Sansone alternates between her usual "walking" moves and higher-energy "boosted walking," i.e., jogging. If you're not quite up to this level, there are modifiers to keep things lower impact, and if you're ready for more, you can always make the movements larger and engage your upper body as much as possible. As always, Sansone's moves are very easy and basic — marches, side steps, kicks, knee ups and the occasional pendulums, all of which she chatters through to keep you interested and involved. With such easy steps, you can concentrate on putting more power into your workout, if you so wish. The bonus disc is great for days when you don't have a lot of time to work out. The 15-minute jog isn't too intense for most advanced beginners, but you will sweat loads. And if you have a few minutes extra, you can toss in the toning routine to finish things off.
