The Fountain of Youth: Five Tibetan Exercises for Rejuvenation |
The Fountain of Youth: Five Tibetan Exercises for Rejuvenation(Wellspring Media) 1998 What is it? A demonstration and explanation of the five Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation. Who is it for? Anyone who is interested in maintaining a youthful physique.
What to expect: While nothing will make a 60-year-old look 25 overnight, the people in this Australian-made video certainly do appear vital, and much younger than their late forties and early fifties (their birth ages). Perhaps part of it is genes, but these five Rites certainly have helped them turn back the clock. Supposedly these exercises balance the Chakras, and that's what helps restore youth. Whether this is true or not, it really is impossible to be old and do 21 repetitions of each of these exercises — they make for a brief but rather strenuous workout, involving both strength and flexibility. The tape's hosts — Zeno Coleman and Alima Cameron — suggest that the beginner start off with five repetitions of each move and work up from there. Anyone who hasn't been very active should heed their advice. Yoga enthusiasts will recognize a number of these postures from their regular practice. Rite Five is basically Upward and Downward Facing Dog, for example, while Rite Three is a moving, modified Camel Pose, or Ustrasana. A fold-out pamphlet of the Rites is included. Yoga in general will generate a certain level of youthful energy for anyone. Those who are skeptical of the claims made by this video will nevertheless have to agree that these Rites make an exhilarating start to the day.
