Pilates Method: 3 Dimensional Toning(Koch Vision) 2001-2005 What is it? A 50-minute workout — 30 minutes of ballet and modern dance-based moves and 20 minutes of Pilates-based floorwork — from Jennifer Kries. Who is it for? Those who are already familiar with the Method and Jennifer Kries will enjoy this workout the most. Those who are dance-challenged may find the first section frustrating and those who are expecting the whole tape to be about Pilates will be disappointed.
What to expect: Jennifer Kries' unique blend of Pilates, Yoga and dance never grows old, and this workout develops grace and flexibility, tones your core and burns calories in two solid routines that equal less than an hour. The 30-minute dance-based segment may take a few tries to get down, especially for those who aren't familiar with Kries' other tapes, and will likely be difficult for those with little or no dance ability. But those who either love to dance, or want a dancer's grace, will enjoy this series of active stretching, lunges and bends that actually make you work up a sweat. The 20 minutes of Pilates floorwork is really closer to 15 minutes since Kries spends some time at the beginning discussing breathing. The routine is made up of classic, core strengthening moves but ends far too quickly and leaves you wanting more. It's best for those who already know Pilates because Kries is a bit lax in the cueing department in this particular video. If you've done the other Method videos and like them, you'll certainly enjoy this workout. If you're new to Kries and the Method, there are other, better introductions, perhaps Dance to Fitness and Precision Toning. Other DVDs you may like:
