The New Method 20/20: Perfect Pilates |
The New Method 20/20: Perfect Pilates(Current/PPI) 2002 What is it? Two 20-minute workouts; only the second one offers much Pilates. Who is it for? Beginning to advanced beginning exercisers who have limited time to work out.
What to expect: The New Method 20/20 series is a mixed bag overall, but this is one of the better programs. Keep in mind, however, that despite the title, these workouts do not wholly consist of Pilates. The first one, in fact, has barely any Pilates at all. Nevertheless, it's 20 minutes very well spent as it improves balance, flexibility and includes a bit of ab and lower body strength training. Instructor Lisa Wheeler leads you through some Yoga moves, ballet and even a bit of kickboxing — a pleasant, though not all-out workout. She finishes up with some mat work that includes a couple of Pilates moves. The second segment features Jennifer Kries and is mostly basic Pilates matwork. While those who are new to Pilates or less flexible may be intimidated by seeing Kries easily pull her leg towards her shoulder, these exercises are really pretty simple — you may not be able to accomplish the same range as Kries (or anywhere near it), but you'll still be able to do them. Those who practice Pilates on a regular basis may be a bit bored by this routine, but it's good for those who haven't been at it for very long. If you have the time to do these two programs together, they make an easy, but solid workout. Other DVDs you may like:
