Mind Body Stretch Scott ColeMind Body Stretch with Scott Cole
(Natural Journeys)
2002
What is it?
A 57-minute stretching program that includes elements of Yoga, Tai Chi and Feldenkrais. (Previously released as Millennium Stretch.)
Who is it for?
Nearly all levels of exercisers, and the people shown in this video display several different levels of flexibility.
What to expect:
It may be difficult to come up with an hour-long stretching video that engages the viewer all the way through... unless you're Scott Cole. Cole leads the way with chatty warmth, frequent humor and excellent overall instruction. He takes you through several different stretching styles, starting off with the exhilarating "8 poses of empowerment." After a series of standing stretches, Cole takes you down to the mat, making sure that both sides of your body are balanced as he goes along. His style is nonintimidating and encouraging — he points out that everyone has his or her own level of flexibility. What's even better is the Feldenkrais exercise he throws into the middle of the session — those who have never tried this blend of movement and awareness will be surprised by the effect mind has on the body. Cole also spends a lot of time in each stretch, which gives your body time to make real progress. While stretching is something that should be done every time you work out, sometimes it's a good idea to devote some serious time to flexibility on its own. This session stretches both body and mind in a most pleasant way.
