What is it?
Two mind-body toning workouts from the Yoga Booty Ballet duo, Gillian Marloth and Teigh McDonough: a 22-minute "booty" shaper and a 30-minute core routine.
Who is it for?
Beginning and advanced beginning exercisers. The moves are mostly Yoga and Pilates based, with some classic exercises thrown in, but you don't need to be an expert at any fitness style to do this workout. You will need a mat.
What to expect:
Don't be intimidated by the fact that the workouts on this 2-DVD set are subtitled as a "master series." They may challenge you if you are an exercise newbie, but they challenge you in a good way by offering up routines that you will be able to work towards without a lot of trouble. Instructors Gillian Marloth and Teigh McDonough lead you through 22 minutes of "booty" toning exercises - moves designed to firm up your back end quite nicely, and a 30-minute core workout that focuses on your back as much as your abs so that your whole midsection is strengthened along with getting toned. The core workout has the most Yoga and relies heavily on plank-type moves for the ab sections - this will come as a relief to those of you who absolutely hate crunches. Both routines start off with a New Agey, centering introduction, which you can take or leave as you please (but they are a nice way to begin your workout). It's not so much of an Eastern touch as it is a Californian touch, really, considering that the workouts were developed in Los Angeles and are celebrity endorsed. In any case, these two routines are a nice change from more traditional workouts.
