What is it?
Five 10-minute mix-and-match Pilates routines, each one with a different focus. Lara Hudson instructs.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning to intermediate exercisers. You should be familiar with Pilates, and the workouts, while brief, can be pretty tough. You will need a mat and 1 to 3 pound dumbbells.
What to expect:
Just because a workout is only 10 minutes long, that doesn't mean it can't be effective. These 5 short segments each work towards a different goal, and each one packs a punch. Do all of them together and chances are you will feel it the next day. Three of the segments — "Super Toned Buns & Thighs," "Arm & Shoulder Shaper" (which makes very good use of the light hand weights), and "Waist Slimmer" — concentrate on toning specific body parts ("Waist Slimmer" is particularly tough). "Total Body Blast" is a flowing series of challenging exercises that work your whole body, and "Slim & Sleek Stretch" lengthens your muscles and increases your flexibility. Lara Hudson is an excellent instructor who cues well. The exercises she includes are often variations on classic Pilates moves, which keeps these workouts fresh and a little different from the norm. If you enjoy Pilates workouts, this one will be a welcome addition to your exercise DVD library.
