What is it?
A half-hour intermediate Pilates routine, plus a bonus 15-minute routine for time-crunched days. Ana Caban instructs.
Who is it for?
Although this workout is supposed to be for those who want to maintain a weight loss, it's actually good for anyone with Pilates experience who wants a routine that has some challenge to it. All you will need is a mat.
What to expect:
Ignore the marketing schtick of adding the words "weight loss" in the title — this intermediate Pilates workout is great for any experienced Pilates enthusiast who wants a fast-paced routine. Caban gives you a half hour of full versions of familiar exercises such as single and double leg stretch, corkscrew and ronde de jambe, more advanced moves including open leg rocker and several teaser variations and some not-so-common exercises such as crab and snake. You really have to know what you're doing because there's no time for Caban to give detailed instruction — she gives you just enough to keep an intermediate's form correct. At the end of the routine, you do several standing exercises — the classic roll down to push up, plus a one-legged variation, a few kicks and even some jumping jacks. This is definitely not a workout for wimps! Busy? There's an abbreviated, 15-minute bonus routine for days when you want to squeeze in a good workout. On the road? There's a 20-minute audio program that has motivational tips and a travel workout. This is an authentic intermediate Pilates workout that builds strength, flexibility and even makes you sweat a little. If you've been doing Pilates for a while and want to move onto the next level, chances are you've earned this DVD.
