Pilates on the Go(Image Entertainment) 2002 What is it? A 50-minute Pilates and full body workout. Maria Leone is the instructor. Who is it for? Advanced beginning Pilates enthusiasts who want to step up their routine. Along with a mat you will need an exercise band
What to expect: Although Maria Leone is touted as a "celebrity trainer" and has coached her fair share of stars such as Jennifer Garner, Debbie Allen, Susan Dey and Gina Gershon, her Pilates workout is refreshingly non-glitzy. Her down-to-earth approach is focused on gently leading the viewer through a series of Pilates moves such as the Hundred, Roll Ups, Swan Dives, Leg Lifts and the like. She also uses an exercise band to warm up the body and modify or enhance several moves. She completes the workout with some upper body exercises using fitness tubing. While the focus is definitely on the core, this is an effective full-body workout that can be done just about anywhere. The exercises are simple enough for beginners, but you do need to know your way around a Pilates mat — Leone spends minimal time with leg positioning and the finer aspects of posture and movement. If you are already familiar with all that, the inclusion of the props will take your workout up a peg without stressing out your body. The 50-minute length of this video is definitely time very well spent. Other Pilates DVDs you may like:
