What is it?
A Pilates workout from Prevention that lasts just under half an hour. You can choose between three levels of difficulty. Michelle Dozois instructs.
Who is it for?
Beginning through intermediate exercisers. Because you have a choice of beginning through more difficult modifications, this workout can suit a wide array of fitness levels. While you don't need to be an expert, it helps if you have some familiarity with Pilates. All you will need for this workout is a mat.
What to expect:
Although released 3 years earlier, this Pilates workout is very similar in theme to the "Pick Your Level" series. Michelle Dozois and two other instructors show different versions of each move - beginner, intermediate and advanced. The photography and editing isn't quite as sophisticated as the "Pick Your Level" DVDs, but the concept still works here. Dozois starts everyone off with the basic version of each move, and then adds in more challenging aspects. Because you usually only get a couple of passes with the advanced move, anyone beyond intermediate level may be frustrated, but those who have a ways to go before achieving Pilates perfection will find this workout satisfying. Dozois offers up nontraditional versions of many Pilates moves, but the core is always the focus — count on your abs feeling this workout! This is a good workout for anyone who has a half-hour and a desire to improve the strength and appearance of their midsection.
