Rael Pilates: System 17(Razor Digital Ent.) 2004 What is it? A 36-minute Pilates workout, taught by top Pilates instructor Rael Isacowitz. Who is it for? Advanced beginning and intermediate Pilates enthusiasts. The exercises may not be as advanced as you are used to, but they will be much harder than the way they are presented in other Pilates videos.
What to expect: Have you been practicing Pilates for a while? Have you been getting some results, but nothing near the glowing reports you've heard from others? Then perhaps your form could use some improvement. That's the thing about Pilates — the moves seem simple enough, but if you don't do them with precision and control, you won't get the most out of your workout. You probably think you're doing the exercises the right way — after all, you're following the directions given in other DVDs, or books, or in class. And you probably are doing them pretty much correctly. But one session with this DVD featuring Rael Isacowitz will show you how much room you have for improvement. Isacowitz — one of the world's top Pilates instructors — hammers in form and proper breathing with enthusiasm and encouragement. He also keeps your core engaged for most of the 36 minutes of this workout. There's no pause between exercises for you (and your abs) to catch your breath — you smoothly transition to the next move and keep going. By the time he has you doing a very modified Teaser, you're glad he isn't pushing you through the full version — by then you're close to maxed out. The funny thing about this workout is that if you do it occasionally, the Pilates DVDs and videos from other instructors will suddenly become more powerful than they were before because your form has improved. That's the magic of Isacowitz's instruction — and it's why his workouts get such fantastic results. Other Pilates DVDs you may like:
