10 Minute Solution: Dance Your Body Thin!(Anchor Bay) 2009 What is it? Five 10-minute mix-and-match dance-inspired cardio and toning workouts. Andrea Leigh Rogers instructs. Who is it for? Advanced beginning and intermediate exercisers — there's a lot of choreography, but it's not difficult to learn. You don't need any equipment, but there is a 2-pound "dance" belt you can use to kick your workout up a little.
What to expect: When it comes to cardio dance workouts, how much you enjoy them is a matter of taste as much as it is the effectiveness of the burn. Rogers must be my cardio soulmate because I found her moves exceedingly easy to learn and so much fun that I was sorry to see the last 10-minute segment end. She takes simple steps and adds energy and style. You never feel like you're getting the same old moves you've seen elsewhere ('cause you aren't!). And, importantly, she does not neglect your arms, like many cardio instructors do. You're constantly, moving them, keeping them in air and ultimately, fatiguing them. Three of the 10-minute segments are pure cardio: "Smooth & Sexy Moves," "Get Fit Club Mix" and "Cardio Dance Party." You move your hips, shoulders and arms for routines that are lively and just a little flirty. The two light sculpting routines, "Dance Toner" and "Ballet Sculpt" use dance-type moves to tone your body from your shoulders to your legs and everything in between (including your core, of course). The weighted belt that comes with this DVD adds a couple of extra pounds around your hips to give an extra oomph to the core and lower body moves. It was a nice addition, but if you wind up with a DVD that doesn't include it (via a DVD rental service or a yard sale), you won't miss it - the workout is as good, and as fun, without it. For its easy-to-learn steps, fun attitude and light toning, this DVD comes highly recommended. Other Yoga DVDs you may like: |
