10 Minute Solution(Anchor Bay) 2001 What is it? Five different ten-minute workouts, from boot camp to Yoga. Who is it for? Anyone who's really short on time but who is determined to fit in some sort of workout, somehow! Especially nice for beginners. The boot camp section requires light (3 to 8 pound) weights
What to expect: To really achieve a good level of fitness, you have to exercise more than a mere ten minutes a day. There are times, however, where ten minutes is about all you can fit in. Ten Minute Solution makes getting in that workout a simple process — you have your choice of either boot camp (strength training), Pilates, ballet, kickboxing or Yoga, and instructor Michelle Dozois leads you through each ten minute routine. In spite of their brevity, these sessions are quite effective. The ballet moves are deceptively simple — they really work the legs, and while the Pilates section isn't wholly authentic (it's more Pilates-based), it's a powerful abdominal workout. Dozois obviously knows her stuff — her instruction is solid on all the different routines. The only area in which she is a bit lacking is the Yoga segment — she's obviously not a traditional instructor, which will no doubt irk those who spend any amount of time at a Yoga studio. The main downside of these 10-minute segments is that there's no time for a warm-up; the best solution would be to take 5 minutes beforehand to go for a brisk walk or do a little marching. That, of course, would make your session 15 minutes long instead of ten. If your life is too hectic to squeeze in those extra few minutes, then maybe you need a time management video worse than an exercise DVD. Other Exercise DVDs you may like:
