15 minute workouts for dummies15 Minute Workouts for Dummies
(Anchor Bay Ent.)
2003
What is it?
Four 15-minute toning workouts, each one focusing on a different body part. Gay Gasper instructs.
Who is it for?
Beginning and advanced beginning exercisers. Both easier and more difficult modifications are shown. You will need two pairs of dumbbells (3 to 5 pounds, or according to your capability), and an exercise mat.
What to expect:
Toning workouts don't have to take a big chunk out of your day. If you make good use of your time and target one area, you can be done in a matter of minutes. That's what this DVD is all about. Veteran fitness pro Gay Gasper leads you through 4 15-minute segments that target either the legs, upper body, butt or abs. Each workout can be done on its own, or you can do two or more segments, time willing. Each session begins with a warm-up in which Gasper gets your blood flowing to the appropriate muscles. For those who aren't great with choreography, the warm-ups might be the hardest part of the workout, since she likes to combine moves and add on. Most people should get the steps down all right after a few tries, and those who have difficulty will be relieved to know that the actual toning moves are very simple - variations on squats and lunges for the legs section, traditional moves for shoulders, biceps, triceps and chest for upper body, standing leg lifts and kicks on all fours for butt and lots of crunch combos for abs. Gasper gives you a lot of cueing and reminds you when you should be breathing (holding your breath when your strength training is a big no-no!). A brief cool down and stretch ends each segment. If you're getting started on a fitness program, these workouts will fit easily into your schedule. As you get more advanced, you'll be able to intensify the workouts by adding dumbbells, or using heavier weights. The only downside of this DVD is that it makes working out so easy to accomplish you'll have no excuse to avoid it!
