crunch belly butt and thighs boot campCrunch: Belly, Butt & Thighs Boot Camp
(Anchor Bay)
2007
What is it?
A 39-minute boot camp-style workout that mostly targets the lower body, including the abs. Teri Ann Krefting instructs.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning through intermediate exercisers. This workout is not going to kill you — this is basically boot camp for beginners.
What to expect:
While I was doing this workout, I was thinking, "Hmm. Pretty easy. Not sweating too much. It's okay." So imagine my surprise the next day when I got out of bed and realized how sore I was from the waist down! But I should have known. This may be a series of basic, athletic-style exercises — squats, lunges, crunches and the like — but they are effective moves for toning the lower body, even if you don't realize how hard you're really working out while you're doing them. The cardio bursts that are sandwiched between toning segments wouldn't stand on their own, but they're great to keep the blood pumping while your muscles prepare for the next round. Instructor Krefting is more cute than tough, which is fine by me, since I'm not a fan of the drill sergeant approach (even if I do like the results that you get from boot camp-type workouts). She keeps up your energy level and then throws in a few push-ups at the end because, after all, "this is a boot camp workout!" If you normally shy away from boot camp workouts, or are afraid they may be too tough for you, give this one a try anyway. Most people will find it doable and if it gets too tough, there is a modifier that keeps things cool for the cardio segments. But don't blame me if you wake up sore the next day!

Fun Enough
written by ASW, March 06, 2008
I thought this video was fun enough for me. I do videos at home after the kids are in bed and this one left me sore from the waist down as well. She presents different challenges for different fitness levels so you can make it hard or somewhat easy. When I am up for a challenge, I bounce all the way through and really get breathing heavy. But when I am just full of energy, I do low impact and still get a good workout. I have sampled my share of home workout videos and this one actually came out with some new moves. I was impressed.
