(GT Media)
2008
What is it?
A 45-minute full-body sculpting routine, plus a 25-minute, edited-down "express workout" from the Firm. Annie Lee instructs.
Who is it for?
Intermediate exercisers, or advanced beginners who are ready for more of a challenge. You'll need one or two pairs of 3 to 8 pound dumbbells and a mat.
What to expect:
This DVD was originally part of The Firm: TransFIRMation kit, so if you have that you already have this workout. If you don't, then you may want to consider adding this solid, no-frills sculpting routine to your exercise DVD library. It's loaded with easy-to-learn moves, both complex (working several muscle groups) and targeted (focusing primarily one muscle group). Most of these exercises are done at a moderate pace, which means you're not stuck with just lighter weights. Since most of these exercises require both upper and lower body moves, gauge the level of weight by what your upper body can do and work up or down from there. You will be doing both standing and mat exercises, so be ready for that. The 45-minute routine is a nice meat-and-potatoes workout, and the 25-minute edited-down version is good too — unlike some other pre-programmed reductions I've seen, this one works your whole body evenly and thoroughly, so you really do get a lot done in a short amount of time. As an instructor, Annie has the chops but she seems a little camera-shy. Not everyone needs to be overflowing with star quality, however — the important thing is did you get a good workout, and will you come back for more? In the case of this DVD, my answer to both questions is yes.
