(Koch Vision)
2007
What is it?
A 56-minute body-sculpting workout, divided into targeted segments lasting from 5 to 15 minutes apiece (the longest segment is a full-body routine). Kimberly Spreen is your instructor.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning through intermediate exercisers. Spreen picks up the speed in the full-body segment, but the other, more targeted routines are slow enough for newer exercisers to do with good form. Depending on your level of strength, you will need hand weights from 3 to 8 pounds. (When you're doing the faster moves, you'll want to go lighter than your normal weights.)
What to expect:
Like many other exercise DVDs these days, this one has mix-and-match capabilities. There are six routines altogether (not counting the warm-up and cool down), five of them focusing on toning one area of your body — lower body; back; shoulders and arms; chest; and core (read: abs). The targeted routines last about five or six minutes each and go at a moderate pace so you can really concentrate on sculpting your muscles. The sixth routine is 15 minutes long and is a full-body workout that uses light weights for high reps of combination moves (you're combining side lunges and bicep curls, for example), so you'll burn calories along with a bit of toning. The moves themselves are simple and will be familiar to anyone with some workout experience; how difficult they are will depend on the weight you use. You may find that problematic on some of the combo moves — a lighter weight may not be enough for half of the exercise, but a heavier weight will be too much for the other half. So even if you are mixing and matching these workouts (or doing the DVD the whole way through), you will still want to add other DVDs to your routine, just to keep some of your muscles challenged.
