(Natural Journeys)
2005
What is it?
Four short (5 to 7 minute) workouts that target the arms and upper body, plus 2 5-minute "bonus" routines. Leisa Hart instructs.
Who is it for?
Beginning to intermediate exercisers. You will need exercise tubing or light weights, a stool or armless chair and a scarf.
What to expect:
Women spend so much time fretting over the imperfections of their lower bodies that they often forget about keeping their upper bodies toned. This is unfortunate, since shapely arms and shoulders are so attractive. And there is only one way to get a great looking upper body: through resistance training. That doesn't necessarily mean lifting huge sets of weights — results are obtainable (for women, at least) with just light weights, and exercises like push-ups and tricep dips that rely on one's own body weight. If you're not enamored with some of the more macho upper body workouts out there, then Leisa Hart's arm routine (part of her "Sexy" series) is for you. The four workouts (and 2 bonus segments) are short enough to fit into small pockets of time, or you can mix and match them for an extended workout. The "Sexy Sculpting" segment is mostly an upper body warm-up, in which you use a scarf and graceful moves to get blood flowing to your upper body. In the next 3 segments, Hart works your arms (biceps and triceps), shoulders (front and rear), back and chest with the use of either exercise tubing or weights and a stool. Even though you won't be using heavy weights, the exercises are still challenging because you're flowing through the moves instead of just doing boring groups of "reps." As for the bonus routines, "Sexy Strength" is highly recommended, since it specifically targets the chest (and trust me, a toned chest will give you a perkier profile). "Intense Stretch," which is exactly what it says it is, is also excellent. While these workouts are exceedingly feminine, they are also very, very effective. This DVD is highly recommended.
