What is it?
A 40-minute full body, strength-training workout featuring instructor Jeffrey Scott.
Who is it for?
Intermediate exercisers. There are beginner's modifications shown, but the real meat of this workout is in the intermediate and advanced versions of the moves. You will need at least one set of dumbbells, preferably two sets, one lighter and one heaver, and a mat.
What to expect:
Here is a workout that's not too long — it clocks in at just under 40 minutes - that gives you a solid strength-training workout while improving your balance and even raising your heart rate up a few notches. After a quick warm-up Jeffrey Scott leads you through about 20 minutes of standing strength moves. Most of them are combinations — lunges with rows, for example — and the more advanced versions of the moves often give you a balance challenge. The next 15 minutes are done on the mat, and focus on the abs and upper body. A brief stretch completes the routine. You will need at least one pair of dumbbells, although two sets would be a lot better (some moves won't be challenging enough with a lighter weight, while others may be too difficult with a heavier dumbbell). That said, since this workout involves high reps and is performed at a fairly quick pace, you might want to go a little lighter than you would normally. Although this workout is meant as a muscle toner, you will break a bit of a sweat too — Scott keeps you moving, and these complex moves have a slight cardio effect.
