What is it?
A 38-minute full-body strength training routine from Karen Voight.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning through intermediate exercisers. Be prepared to work! You will need a chair, 2 to 10 pound dumbbells and a mat for the ab and back exercises.
What to expect:
Although this workout claims to last only 30 minutes, don't believe it. It actually goes on for about 38 minutes. And because Voight starts you off with dumbbell exercises right away, you should spend a few minutes warming up beforehand. So in reality, this workout is more like 45 minutes, which isn't a bad thing — it's tough to hit every muscle group in a limited amount of time. The fact that Voight does it, and does it well, in a little over a half hour is pretty impressive. Voight is the perfect instructor for those who absolutely hate perky, cheerleader types. She is very professional and matter-of-fact, pleasant without mowing you down with her personality. Her cueing is excellent, and she leads you through this sculpting routine with nary a pause. You hit your lower body and upper body before getting on the mat and working your lower back and abs, Pilates style. Because you can add heavier weights as you grow stronger, this workout progresses with you. That said, it's not really for beginners, as no real modifications are shown. You should already have a little exercise experience before tackling this excellent workout routine.
