Ananda Yoga for Emotional Healing |
Ananda Yoga for Emotional Healing(Clarity Sound & Light) 2000 What is it? A Yoga session that promotes feelings of well-being and self-esteem. Who is it for? Anyone who needs a lift because they are stressed out, feeling blue or going through tough emotional times.
What to expect: While Yoga alone can't cure severe depression, this video does have a calming, healing energy to it. Instructor Lisa Powers (who, incidentally, is a breast cancer survivor) goes through a series of easy poses accompanied with visualizations, all geared towards creating a feeling of relaxation and empowerment. Like other Ananda Yoga videos, the poses here are not difficult, and while it is suggested that several props — a cushion, blanket and strap — be kept nearby, most people will make minimal use of them. The power of this tape is in combining the postures — many of them geared to open the heart and/or release pent-up emotions — with positive affirmations. Powers' instruction is clear and her presence is warm without being at all cloying — there's nothing "gooey" or saccharine about her. The focus of this tape is to relax, not to exercise, so don't expect to work up a sweat. Do expect to feel a lot better if you practice with this tape after a rough day. It's a great session for when you're feeling sad or need an emotional boost. Other Yoga DVDs you may like:
