(Sounds True)
1998
What is it?
A Kundalini Yoga video that focuses on postures for the Chakras.
Who is it for?
Kundalini Yoga enthusiasts, from beginners on up, and anyone else who is curious about Kundalini Yoga, the Chakras, or both.
What to expect:
Those who are familiar with Kundalini Yoga will like this tape immediately — instructor Gurutej Kaur offers clear explanations and good instruction. The routine consists of 16 postures, two for each of eight Chakras (the ether surrounding the body is counted as a Chakra, for those who are familiar with just the basic seven). The purpose of the exercises, breaths and chants are to clear the blockages in the Chakras so that the Kundalini energy will be able to flow freely up the spine. Whether you believe in the concept of Chakras or are a skeptic, this is a deceptively exhilarating session — the uplifting effects aren't felt fully until the end. Much of the tape is familiar Kundalini terrain, but there are a few less common breaths and postures. This video may take some attitude adjustment from those who are used to other forms of Hatha Yoga — Kundalini is quite different. But they should be patient and keep an open mind, because this tape offers a lot of rewards, along with pretty Malibu scenery. The only people who should be cautious when approaching this routine are those who have weak backs — some of the postures could cause strain, especially if they're not done with good form. For everyone else, this is an excellent taste of Kundalini Yoga.
