Denise Austin Yoga Essentials |
Denise Austin Yoga Essentials(Artisan) 2000 What is it? A pleasant 40-minute Yoga routine presented by fitness personality Denise Austin. Who is it for? Beginners who want a basic Yoga session that's not too challenging and not too easy, either.
What to expect: This tape is a good introduction to some basic Yoga postures, and to Yoga's benefits — the increased flexibility and strength, and that wonderful sense of well-being. Denise Austin is a fitness expert, not a Yoga master, so her approach is more physical than spiritual. But never fear — she clearly knows her way around a sticky mat. Anyone who is able to do Natarahasana (Dancing Shiva) on a narrow ledge in a stone canyon demands a certain amount of respect! The tape is divided into four sections: eight minutes' worth of Sun Salutations, 12 minutes of standing postures, 12 minutes of floor postures and a seven-minute visulization and relaxation session. The sum total is just under 40 minutes — a little brief, but workable for someone who is new to Yoga. Denise's supportive demeanor can sometimes be a little overbearing (do you really care whether she's proud of you?), but her actual instruction is solid. This shouldn't be the only Yoga tape you own, but it does make a good addition to any newbie's library. Other Yoga DVDs you may like:
