What is it?
An hour-long Yoga practice geared towards intermediates and consisting of Sun Salutations, Inversions and Backbends. Rodney Yee instructs.
Who is it for?
As the DVD's title says, intermediate Yoga enthusiasts. Along with your mat, you will need a block, a strap and some blankets. You will also need a blank wall for some of the inversions.
What to expect:
If you are looking for more of a challenge than what you get in your average Yoga DVD, then Rodney Yee has a session for you. After warming you up with some basic Sun Salutations, he leads you through a series of moderately advanced poses. Included in the inversion section are Handstands and Headstands, with modifications. The Backbending series includes Bow, Camel, Upward Bow and Shoulderstand, and ends with Shavasana and a short sitting meditation. The key to this DVD is Yee's careful and detailed instruction. In his poetic way, he leads you through these poses so that you feel them on both a physical and mental level. This is a good DVD for those who are just reaching intermediate level, and who want a certain amount of direction for the more advanced poses. Those who are already proficient at them may find this DVD a little redundant, and Power Yoga intermediates won't find it flowing enough. Intermediates who want to really get to know inversions and backbending poses, however, will enjoy Yee's calming approach.
