The Method: Precision Yoga |
The Method: Precision Yoga(Parade Video) 1998-2002 What is it? Three 20-minute Yoga routines from mind-body fitness expert Jennifer Kries. Who is it for? Advanced beginning Yoga enthusiasts — this program is not an introduction to Yoga, but it's easy enough for people who have not been practicing for very long.
What to expect: Those who like the physical and mental benefits of Yoga, but who would rather forego its spiritual side will find The Method's Precision Yoga workouts very satisfying. Jennifer Kries is a dancer and Pilates expert more than a Yoga instructor, so her approach is more earthy and directed towards fitness rather than spirit. There are three segments of 20 minutes each; the first is "Strength and Vitality," in which the viewer is led through a series of Sun Salutations. The second is "Flexibility and Range of Movement," which focuses on standing poses including Triangle, Right Angle and a couple of balance poses. The final segment is "Serenity and Peace of Mind," in which Kries directs you through a breathing exercise, relaxing floor poses and twists, and a brief Shavasana. Each segment stands on its own, or they can be done together for an hour-long Yoga routine. Kries goes through the poses rather quickly — you generally don't stay in any of them longer than three breaths — and she doesn't offer a lot of details about form and alignment. Because of this, the viewer should already be well versed in Yoga basics. If you are, this program is a solid and refreshing Yoga routine that will be a nice addition to your other Yoga videos or DVDs. Other Yoga DVDs you may like:
