The New Method 20/20: Integrated Yoga |
The New Method 20/20: Integrated Yoga(Current/PPI) 2002 What is it? Two 20-minute workouts that combine Yoga, dance and the Method's well-known "precision toning." Who is it for? While beginners and up can handle the level of intensity of these workouts, it helps a lot if you know Yoga, Pilates and are good at dancing. No equipment is needed other than a mat and a large bath towel.
What to expect: The "New Method" series bears a lot of similarities to the old Method tapes — a nice, world-beat, percussion-based soundtrack, earthy sets with a few non-invasive new age trappings, and workouts that blend a mind-body approach with resistance training. The main purpose of this group of tapes is to divvy the workouts into quick 20-minute segments so that busy souls can fit a bit of the Method into their hectic days. While this program calls itself "Integrated Yoga," there's a whole lot more than Yoga going on. In the first segment, there is an equal amount of dance — enough to intimidate those who are dance-challenged. The first part of this workout involves a lot of flowing Yoga moves and ends with a unique, Yoga-based dance segment. It will take most people a few tries to get the dance segment down, but it's fun once you get past the learning stage. The second segment involves a lot of floor work and includes as much — or more — Pilates-based moves as it does Yoga. A towel is used to assist in the stretches. Both workouts are easy enough for beginners but have enough room for more advanced exercisers to enjoy deeper stretches. Nice for those days in which your focus is more on flexibility and grace than on working up a sweat. Other Yoga DVDs you may like:
