(Natural Journeys)
2003
What is it?
A half-hour Vinyasa Flow Yoga practice that concentrates on strength building moves.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginners — those with some familiarity with the poses will enjoy this program. Experienced intermediates and advanced Yoga practitioners will find it too easy.
What to expect:
Although this Vinyasa Flow routine is only half an hour, it makes good use of the time by really focusing on the poses. You won't be rushed through the postures — you stay in them for several breaths before moving on. The Asanas here concentrate on building strength (there is a strong emphasis on Chaturangas in the first half of the session), but instructor Rainbeau Mars also pays attention to breathing and spirit. All too often, Yoga is seen as merely an athletic endeavor — a way to strengthen muscles and gain flexibility. Properly practiced, Yoga should also strengthen the spirit and make the mind more flexible. This routine works on all of that, and the undulating water of the Maui beach in the background adds serenity to the mix throughout Mars' instruction. This is a pleasant program for those days when you don't have a full hour to spend on Yoga.
