Yoga for Wimps: Poses for the Flexibility Impaired |
Yoga for Wimps: Poses for the Flexibility Impaired(Natural Journeys) 2004 What is it? A half-hour Yoga workout especially for beginners who believe they lack the flexibility for Yoga. Annika Carlson instructs. Who is it for? Yoga beginners. You should have a mat; the only other equipment you may need is a chair, a pillow and a towel — all items you probably have at home.
What to expect: If you'd like to become more flexible, but are intimidated by the idea of pretzel-twisted Yogis, then this workout will come as a happy reality check. Yoga, after all, isn't so much for people who are flexible as it is for people who want more flexibility — both physically and mentally — in their lives. This basic (but not boring) routine is cheerfully led by Annika Carlson. The ACE and AFAA-certified Yoga instructor offers cues that are easy to understand and execute. In addition, she has an assistant showing very modified poses using a chair, a pillow and a towel. While the assistant is given ample time to set up her props for the poses, the workout is still paced well enough to keep more flexible beginners engaged. Those who want an easy, non-threatening introduction to Yoga will find it here. Almost any healthy individual will be able to do this routine, even those who are flexibility challenged. The only downside is that many people will outgrow this workout fairly quickly, so keep in mind that while this might be your first Yoga DVD or video, it certainly won't be your last.
