(Yellow Cuckoobird Prod.)
2002
What is it?
An hour-long, gentle Yoga session that's appropriate for beginners. Fitness expert and long time Yoga practitioner Evamarie Pilipuf instructs. After the session, there is an additional 26-minute program that offers more detailed instruction.
Who is it for?
Beginning to advanced beginning Yoga enthusiasts. Pilipuf offers a lot of modifications, both during the session and in the segment that follows.
What to expect:
Not every fitness expert can offer good Yoga instruction (although it seems like every one of them has a Yoga workout now). Evamarie Pilipuf is someone from the fitness arena who really understands Yoga, and she has created an hour-long routine here that nourishes both body and spirit. Filmed in a lovely nature setting, Pilipuf's Yoga workout veers from what most others are doing these days. For one thing, there are no Sun Salutations. Actually, there are no attempts to add a Power Yoga angle to what is mainly a Hatha Yoga routine. Instead, to warm up the body, she offers up a series of moves that are similar to the stretches you would see in a dance class. They are very complimentary to the Yoga postures that follow, and make a nice, unusual preparation. As for the Yoga poses themselves, Pilipuf carefully leads you through them and takes her time. You remain in each pose long enough to pattern it into your body memory, which aids in progress. Her instruction is good during the workout, and it's even better in the 26-minute instructional segment that follows. There, she shows additional modifications, some of which use blocks and straps. This is a very good workout for beginners. It's on the gentle side without being too easy. Intermediates, however, may want something a bit more challenging.
