What is it?
Two Yoga workouts — a 31-minute beginner's routine and a 54-minute intermediate routine — that focus on poses for the back and hips. Allison Nolan instructs.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning and intermediate Yoga enthusiasts — these workouts are not easy or basic, even the "beginning" segment and the modifications. You will need a mat, and one or two Yoga blocks.
What to expect:
The biggest problem with Yoga is that the poses you need the most in your own personal practice are probably those that you are not fond of. For example, if you have tight hips, it's doubtful that you enjoy practicing Pigeon very much (even though you may also love the benefits). So when you find a DVD that targets your specific issues, the catch 22 is that you'll find yourself doing a number of your least favorite poses. Hence you may have mixed feelings about these two routines. The workouts help you strengthen your back and gain flexibility in your hips, and instructor Allison Nolan cheerfully leads you through all those poses that may challenge you (Nolan has been an aerobics instructor and it shows), while a modifier helps you ease into them. As long as you are gentle with yourself and take it easy when you need to (always honor your edge and don't force!), you'll find your back and hips benefiting from the two routines on this DVD.
