Yoga Zone: Yoga for Weight Loss(Koch Vision) 2000 What is it? Two Yoga sessions, one a little over 30 minutes, and the second 24 minutes, that promote weight loss. Who is it for? Those who realize that losing weight is made much easier by building muscle — this tape will definitely help you build upper and especially lower body strength.
What to expect: Senior Yoga Zone instructor Al Bingham presents a Yoga session that is something tougher than your average, everyday Yoga, but not quite as intense as Power Yoga. This is not a tape where you stretch some, do a few lunges and call it a day. There are quite a few Downward/Upward Dogs, and you spend a lot of time exploring the Chair, or Powerful Pose, very deeply. The whole point of this is to build muscle — muscle, after all, burns way more calories than fat. And since the biggest muscles are located in the lower body, that's the best place to focus if you're interested in weight loss. Yoga, for the most part, does not burn a whole lot in the way of calories, but if done the way Bingham presents it, you will lose weight in the long run because you've developed your muscle mass (this also means you're more likely to keep the weight off, too).
